Ed Bear's Visit to Bristow Iowa in 2002

Here is the pictures from Ed Bear's trip to Bristow, Iowa. The trip was in honor of the Veterans from the Bristow area and two very important people, Ed Yost (the hometown boy done good), and his close friend Joe Kittenger. At least thirteen balloons turned out for the Saturday morning flight from a field just west of town. Ed Bear got the meet up with Ed and Joe during the ceremonies when the town honored them both with monuments across the street from the Post Office. Ed Bear suggest if you ever get the chance to drop by Bristow to see these two monuments you might enjoy the side trip.

Emails from Ed Bear can be found here. These will be posted as we get them

Ed Yost took a group on the tour of the area around Bristow. The tour included Ed's boyhood home and this "big" rock called Fort Sumter. The rock is a glacieral boulder left in the middle of Iowa in the last ice age. Ed Bear thought it was a great place to catch a few rays!

Ed Bear got a quiet moment and sat down to read through the little hand out about Ed Yost, Joe Kittenger, and Clayton Folkerts. Clayton Folkerts was an early plane builder who was born just east of Bristow.
